Fracas Attackas is a fun piece for beginning band that is composed using the first five notes of the concert Bb scale for the wind instruments. There are two basic wind parts doubled throughout the instruments, and the mallets closely follow the winds up until the bridge of the piece. The mallets do go outside of the five note range on the scale, but only briefly. There are four more percussion parts, but the piece may be performed with only snare drum and bass drum. If you have the players, add the crash cymbals and then the toms to fill out the parts.
A fracas is defined as a noisy quarrel or brawl. Attackas is, of course, just a made-up word, but it rhymes quite nicely! I hope you and your band have alot of fun with this piece!
